Super Fresh - short film

I’m back!

I’m back.  Having been lost in the world of blogger for too long, I’m returning to my original blog, albeit with a new direction and focus.

I have recently been drawn back to the world of Warhammer 40K, so I have decided to change the focus of this blog to that part of my wargaming hobby.

It’s good to be back.  Enjoy!

I’m moving blogs

December 27, 2009 Leave a comment

Hello everyone

A new year means a new outlook and for Scullmeister’s, Confessions of a Wargamer, it means a new look and new blog address.

I’ve been been following a number of blogs on another service and I really like what I have seen, with the set-up, widgets and features.  So I have decided to move blogs for 2010 to:

http://scullmeister.blogspot.com/

I hope all my regular readers will add me to their favourites list and I hope to hear from you all soon.

Best

New Saxons

December 19, 2009 1 comment

Guido got some unarmoured Saxons for me in return for a box of Republican Romans.  When he left, he commented that he expected to see a painted miniature finished in 24 hours.  Easy to say, but harder to do.  Anyway, inbetween looking after my 10month old daughter and other work, I managed to do a quick job on one miniature.  Once again I’ve resorted to Army painter, I’ve resigned to the fact that this is the fastest way to get miniatures on the board and I will reserve taking time to paint miniatures, for ones that I really like.

Guido’s Picts

Guido's Picts

You may remember that some time back I bought some West Wind miniatures for my mate Guido, when I was in the UK.  I threatened back then, that I would post the finished, painted miniatures on my blog to let you all see the result.

Well, here they are.  I’m sure you will agree that he has done a great job and I reckon they are the best command group in his very big Pict army.

I found motivation!

Caeserean Centurion

Here is the Centurion I start last week when I couldn’t find the motivation to paint anything.  Thanks to everyone who gave me some tips about getting motivated to paint again, your advice was very useful.

The biggest motivator for me was the enjoyment of painting.  That’s what I paint for and sometimes having to mass paint, to produce an army, gets in the way of the enjoyment for me.  So I will keep looking through the miniatures I have and paint the ones I really want to paint first and enjoy the painting process.

@ Beccas, I agree that if I was gaming more, I would probably be painting more, but that’s not happening at the moment so I’ll just enjoy painting.

Caesarean Centurion (work-in-progress)

Caesarean Centurion, work-in-progress

OK, I’ve cleared up my workspace and found a miniature I’ve been wanting to paint for ages and there is no other reason to paint it, but to just enjoy painting.

I’ll keep you updated on the progress.

Where’s my motivation?

I can’t get motivated to paint, anyone got any sure-fire ways to get the paint flowing?  I just take some miniatures out, look at them, put them away, get some others out, look at them… hmmmm…

The choices:

  • Later Saxons
  • Early Saxons
  • Celts
  • Huns
  • Late WW1 Germans
  • Imperial Roman

I think I’ve just got too many unpainted miniatures  😦

My first Saxon unit

My first Saxon unit

OK, it’s taken me ages, but hopefully it has been worth the wait.  Here is my first Saxon unit, a unit of 24 Ceorls who are the beginning of my later Saxon army.

Yes I used Army Painter to save on time (family, films etc…) are all taking up most of my waking hours.  I am pleased with the result and hopefully I can get onto my next unit soon.

Hope you like them.  Oh… the film is coming along quite well, check out the link below.

89 hits on this blog today.  I have no idea how that happened.

Also, I’ve been asked by Wargames Foundry to write an article!  Exciting!   …..

…..Follow up….

OK, Beccas told me he linked my post comparing Saxons from different manufacturers to a Yahoo group, so that’s how I got so many hits… Final day count of 94!

Go ahead, link me wherever you think my blog will work  :o)
